NB! Tidspunkt endret til 08.20-09.00 denne fredagen!

Fredag 28. januar

08.20–08.25

Foredragsholder: Nancy Strand Seniorrådgiver, Avfall Norge

NB - litt endring i tidsplanen i dag. Webinaret avsluttes kl 09.00 pga fagsamling i Avfall Norge.

08.25–08.40

Foredragsholder: Fabio Poretti Technical and Scientific Officer, Cewep - Confederation of European Waste to Energy Plants

CEWEP together with other European waste management associations is conducting a study on the CO2eq savings potential by the European waste management sector.

The project development is led by Prognos in collaboration with CE Delft, which is specifically focusing on the LCA aspects of the analysis.

The study will be developed in 3 main scenarios:

  • Scenario 0: Status quo of waste management sector savings in Europe (referred to 2018 as reference year)
  • Scenario 1: implementation of the current Waste Framework Directive and legislation (reference year 2035 with a sensitivity analysis for 2040 as some Member States have 5 years extension to achieve the targets. Some specific Commercial&Industrial waste streams will be also considered, assuming the same targets as for Municipal Waste.
  • Scenario 2: potential impact of new technologies and further commitments on CO2 reduction potentials. The aim of Scenario 2 is to be more ambitious than Scenario 1 and consider further innovations or evolutions that the sector could experience in the next years in a decarbonization perspective.

The presentation will be in a context of "Fit for 55" and the overall EU-targets, and contain a European perspective on the mix of recycling, landfill and WtE. Fabio Poretti will also share his thinking on how WtE sector can reduce climate emissions from waste treatment as a result of new technical and systematic solutions.

08.40–08.55

Foredragsholder: Erik Kolstad Forsker, NORCE

Nancy representerer Avfall Norge i styret i ISWA, International Solid Waste Association.

Fabio Poretti

Technical and Scientific Officer, Cewep - Confederation of European Waste to Energy Plants

Holds a MSc degree in Mechanical engineering at the University of Connecticut and a MSc in Energy Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano. Research fellow of the Politecnico di Milano fostering academic investigation into industrial perspective during 4 years in the field of material and energy recovery from residues. At CEWEP, Fabio transversally follows the legislative dossiers happening inside the European Green Deal, with particular focus to Energy&Climate policies, together with project management in the Waste-to-Energy sector.

Erik Kolstad

Forsker, NORCE
